At Au Petit Thouars, every stay is an invitation to slow down. Wake up to breakfast overlooking the Thouet Valley, spend the day exploring the Loire Valley's castles, vineyards, and contemporary art museums, or simply unwind by the pool, immersed in the quiet rhythm of the countryside. Throughout July, evenings are centred around the guest table hosted by François-Xavier of kitchnkink, the estate's special summer culinary residency. His seasonal menus celebrate local producers, organic ingredients, and natural wines, bringing together guests and locals around a shared table where food becomes another way to experience the spirit of the house. Available for one month only, these dinners are a unique part of the Au Petit Thouars summer experience.
kitchnkink is the creative and culinary project founded by François-Xavier. Its name is a playful fusion of three English words—kitsch, kitchen, and kink—three ideas that define his creative universe: an appreciation for beauty with character, a deep love of cooking, and an unexpected twist that keeps every experience surprising. Exclusively for the month of July, François-Xavier takes over the guest table at Au Petit Thouars as the estate's special summer host. His intimate dinners celebrate the seasons, local producers, and the pleasure of gathering around a shared table. More than a dining experience, kitchnkink offers guests a unique opportunity to discover the region through food, conversation, and genuine hospitality—available only during this limited summer residency.
Every house has a story, and Au Petit Thouars began with an unexpected encounter. Ten years ago, Alexandre and Guillaume discovered this forgotten country house, abandoned for years yet filled with quiet potential. They immediately knew it was the place they had been searching for. Coming from the worlds of fashion and design, they carefully brought it back to life, filling each room with contemporary art, treasured family heirlooms, and objects collected over the years. More than just a place to stay, Au Petit Thouars reflects their shared love of beautiful interiors, thoughtful hospitality, and the joy of welcoming others into their home. Overlooking the peaceful Thouet Valley, it is a house shaped as much by the people who live there as by the landscape that surrounds it.
