Step into the restless, shadow-soaked Rome of Caravaggio on a walking tour led by an art historian. From the corner of the city where the artist once lived and worked, follow the traces of a life as dramatic as his paintings: hidden streets, extraordinary churches and masterpieces that still feel startlingly alive. Between ambition, scandal and devotion, the tour reveals the man behind the myth—including the fateful neighbourhood that changed the course of his life forever. The journey ends in one of Rome’s grandest squares, before an unforgettable canvas in which darkness and light are pushed to their most powerful extremes.
The tour is led by art historians Denise Di Castro and Francesca Minnetti, whose shared passion for Rome brings its layered artistic history vividly to life.
Denise is a curator and fifth-generation member of Antichità Alberto Di Castro, her family’s historic Roman gallery, founded in 1878. A Courtauld Institute of Art graduate and Advisor to the American Academy in Rome, she brings a distinctive perspective shaped by her work across international exhibitions and cultural projects.
Francesca holds a degree in Art History from Sapienza University of Rome and is a certified tour guide. She combines her experience in cultural exhibitions and guided tours with an intimate knowledge of the city’s art, history and heritage.
Together, they offer an insightful, engaging way to encounter the city—and Caravaggio’s extraordinary world.
