Nicaragua with Casa Congo

Casa Congo is a sustainability hub in El Astillero, Nicaragua, where local communities and international experts come together to create projects that address challenges in climate change, social inequality, and economic development.

Since 2017, Casa Congo has provided education to more than 200 local community members and hosted over 120 international volunteers.

Staying at Casa Congo offers the unique opportunity to visit Nicaragua, enjoy stunning natural landscapes, and experience a cultural exchange where participants can learn new skills and create an impact. Visit this hub to have fun, live a wild experience, give back to the community and learn about the unique natural and social ecosystems that define Nicaragua. 

Casa Congo is open to:

1. Visitors who want to sleep at Casa Congo for 3 nights or more (on average 2 - 4 hours every day of volunteering and conservation activities included in accommodation)
   
   

2. Visitors who want a day pass in Casa Congo and enjoy a specific experience (tours, workshops, etc)
   
   

3. Researchers or university students who want to do a project with Casa Congo (minimum 1 month stay)

Ocean conservation: surfing sessions, beach cleanups, sea turtles conservation, and night anti-poaching patrols.

Ecology: guided tours, research, and data collecting in the Chacocente Wildlife Refuge, reforestation initiatives, and ecology classes.

Agroecology: organic gardening, vermiculture, wastewater treatment, and rainwater systems.

Built environments: Bamboo design and construction, social housing and furniture (runs 3 months/year).

Las Tejedoras: a collection of plastic bags and transformation into artworks.
