Auberge de La Maison

Via Passerin d'Entrèves, 16A, 11013 Courmayeur (AO)

In Entrèves, the most storied corner of Courmayeur, Auberge de La Maison feels less like a hotel and more like a lived-in Alpine home — one shaped by generations who have watched Mont Blanc change with the light. Today, it is Alessandra Garin who carries that legacy forward. Her family helped define hospitality in the Aosta Valley, yet she approaches the Auberge with a light hand: preserving what feels authentic, adding only what deepens the experience of being in the mountains. Set among meadows at 1,224 metres, the house sits at the foot of Mont Blanc, close enough to Courmayeur to feel connected, yet quiet enough to hear the shift of the wind across the peaks. From here, the rhythms of Alpine life unfold naturally — ski slopes, trails, and even the French border lie within easy reach, but nothing feels hurried. The 33 rooms are each a small world unto themselves. Antique Valdostan furniture, weathered wood, old paintings, textiles chosen for their texture rather than their luxury — all combine to create an atmosphere that feels collected over time. Views open onto glaciers and crags, yet the interiors remain soft, inviting, intentionally intimate.

Downstairs, the spa — La Maison de l’Eau — offers a gentle pause. The indoor–outdoor pool seems to float toward Mont Blanc, and the sauna, steam bath, and quiet rooms echo the muted calm of the surrounding landscape. It is a space for slow afternoons, not hurried rituals. At L’Aubergine, the dining room is wrapped in tall windows that frame the seasons. In winter, as the fireplace crackles, it feels like eating on the edge of the forest. The atmosphere is unpretentious, more about a sense of warmth than performance.

Auberge de La Maison is the kind of place where the experience is shaped not by grand gestures, but by small, thoughtful details — a place where time expands, and the mountains seem close enough to touch.
