Aurora

Aurora has never simply been a hotel. For nearly sixty years it has been part of Merano's social fabric, overlooking the city's elegant Passer Promenade and enriching the city with its vocation for hospitality, always guided by a bold and audacious vision. Today, under the stewardship of the Aukenthaler family and following a radical transformation by feld72 architects, with interiors by Hannes Peer Architecture, Aurora begins a new chapter as one of Italy's most compelling design destinations—where hospitality, architecture, art and community naturally converge. 

The renovation reads less as a restoration than as a reinterpretation of the hotel's identity. Alpine materials such as Laas marble, travertine, brass and timber are brought into dialogue with influences ranging from Californian modernism and Brazilian architecture to the cinematic language of the 1970s, creating spaces that continually shift through light, materiality and perspective. 

Beyond its thoughtfully designed guestrooms, Aurora unfolds through ARTÈ, where Chef Gennaro Santoro celebrates Italian culinary tradition with a contemporary approach guided by seasonality and exceptional local produce; the Listening Bar, a gathering place animated by weekly performances; and Carte Blanche, the hotel's evolving platform for exhibitions, conversations and site-specific artistic interventions. More than a place to stay, Aurora offers a distinctly contemporary way to experience Merano—through culture, curiosity and beautifully considered spaces.
