An experience to delve deeper into the world of clay, that will take place in a special location immersed in nature, only 1 hour away from Milan, and home to a ceramics artist. The experience will start at 3pm with a little introduction, coffee and tea and a visit to the artist’s studio. At 3.30 we’ll reach the river and gather the wild clay, which you’ll also learn how to purify and prepare for use. You’ll then start to create your own piece molding the clay, with the help of Giorgia. The experience will end around 8pm with a vegan aperitif in nature.
Giorgia, born in Syracuse, is a fashion photographer and a yoga and contortionism teacher. She lives in the countryside near the lake of Lecco/Como and creates ceramics by experimenting with wild land and wood-fired cooking methods. Inspired by the colonial and Mediterranean style that she constantly saw growing up, she chooses rustic and raw materials that bring out the natural characteristics of the piece.
Studio Pepa is located in Castello di Brianza, at the foot of the Regional Park of Curone and within the walls of Cascina Insiraga, an ancient Roman mill built between 1100 and 1300 AD. The banks of the Tortovalle stream - the natural property line - are rich in Wild Clay. In fact, the whole neighboring area has taken the name of "Fornace" because, since ancient times, there have always been numerous furnaces for cooking clay.
