What’s your unique and special connection with the charming city of Venice?

Venice holds a unique and special place in my heart. Growing up, I spent every June in this enchanting city, where our apartment overlooks the iconic Ponte dei Sospiri. My days were filled with rides on the vaporetto and relaxing in a cabana at the Lido, making Venice feel like a second home. In my early twenties, I also had the incredible honor of being the Carnival’s Colombina, an experience that deepened my connection to the city. Today, I continue to cherish Venice, spending nearly half of my time there.

Which area of Venice totally captivates you, and where do you love to spend your time?

I enjoy being around Dorsoduro, Le Zattere, and the Ghetto because these areas are much less crowded with tourists compared to other parts of Venice. They offer a more authentic atmosphere where you can experience local life, stroll along peaceful canals, and discover hidden gems like quaint cafes, lesser-known art galleries, and charming neighborhood shops. It's a refreshing contrast to the bustling crowds elsewhere in the city, allowing for a more relaxed and immersive exploration of Venice's cultural richness.

Coming from a family with a strong fashion legacy and having launched your own brand Maccapani, what are the must-visit fashion boutiques in Venice that you’d recommend? And since Venice is famous for its artisans and exquisite glasswork, do you have a favorite hidden workshop or artisan you adore?

And if you're looking for a unique fusion of Japanese cuisine with Venetian cicchetti, Giorgione da Masa is a must-try. Each of these places offers a distinct culinary experience that highlights the diverse flavors and traditions found in Venice.

For a perfect stay, where do you prefer to stay? Are you into cool design spots, or are there traditional and elegant places where you love to soak in the ancient Venetian charm?

Hotel Flora and Pensione Accademia are both super charming places to stay in Venice. Hotel Flora is known for its stylish decor and peaceful garden, offering a relaxing retreat in the heart of the city. Pensione Accademia has a cozy vibe with traditional Venetian furnishings, perfect for a more intimate stay. First off, I'd take you to Fondazione Prada and the Vatican Pavilion at the Biennale — they host the most exciting exhibitions in town right now. Then, we'd head to Caffe Quadri in San Marco for a classic Venetian aperitivo, an absolute must-do. Afterwards, we'd enjoy a sunset walk along Le Zattere, where you can soak in stunning views of the city and its canals. To cap off the day, dinner at Al Gatto Nero in Burano promises a delightful culinary experience with fantastic seafood dishes in a charming island setting.

My go-to spot is for sure Il Mercante. Its interior exudes a timeless charm that transports you to another era, creating the perfect ambiance to indulge in both cicchetti and expertly crafted cocktails. For sunset enthusiasts, I highly recommend heading to the Palazzo Experimental. It boasts the best vista in Venice, offering a perfect setting to unwind and savor the local flavors while soaking in the breathtaking beauty of Venice's skyline. It's an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the magical atmosphere of the city as day transitions into night.

 Venice is a treasure trove of art and culture. What are some hidden cultural gems that visitors absolutely shouldn’t miss? Any art galleries, artist residencies, or historical palazzi that you love and recommend?

You absolutely have to check out Fondazione Querini Stampalia, housed in a stunning palazzo where you can dive into a vibrant collection of art and furnishings that bring Venetian life through the centuries to life. If you make your way to Murano Island, don't miss the Museo di Storia Naturale Giancarlo Ligabue. It's not your typical museum visit—with exhibits blending geology, paleontology, and natural sciences alongside Murano's famous glassmaking tradition, it's a unique experience you won't want to miss. And for art lovers, a visit to Scuola Dalmata di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni near San Zaccaria is a must. Explore Carpaccio's stunning cycle of historical Venetian paintings, a true gem of the city's artistic heritage.
